ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

In order to achieve our environmental goals and objectives we have identified the internal and external issues that might affect our management system achieving its intended outcomes. Internal and external issues are fluid and change from time to time. Our approach is to be reactive, but aware, changing our approach to the environment when a particular issue changes or a new issue appears. We have highlighted a list of what we believe currently affect us achieving our strategic aims and objectives with regard to the environment.

Internal Issues

values – the values of K7 are ingrained in our staff and ensure we satisfy   environmental requirements. We shall endeavour to conduct our business in such a way that least impacts the environment.

knowledge – having knowledge of the environment and how are operations impact the environment, the industry. We are constantly learning. Having expertise around us is essential. Other knowledge gained through network meetings and training courses are essential. Understanding the environment ensures opportunities are exploited.

performance – our environmental performance is critical to its development and sustainability. Results are important in determining our carbon footprint, A strategic scorecard ensures we monitor environmental performance on a regular basis.

                                                                External Issues

legal – likely changes in environmental legislation likely to have an impact on the way we do business and may affect vehicle leasing arrangements.

market place – very competitive market and opportunity to differentiate ourselves from the competition through a greener approach. Operating a "green business" can offer market opportunities with similar minded customers.

social and economic – social and economic climate sees a change in way people think and attitudes towards the environment. Landfill issues, costs of re-cycling, diesel fuel, plastic continents are all social issues that we need to consider when establishing environmental objectives.

competition – very competitive market place, vying for the same contracts mean that every little edge can count. Having ISO 14001 improves our chances against some of our competitors, but not all. Other advantage can be gained by a better environmental environmental approach.

technology – the advent of new and better technology can reduce our footprint, making visits more cost effective. The increased technology in power generation, vehicle fuel and system technology for better visit and journey planning can all have a positive impact on our environmental performance.

political - brexit, global warming and climate change agreements can all affect how we do business in the future.
