LEADERSHIP

The main responsibility of the leadership team is for the prevention of work related injury and ill health, as well as the provision of safe and healthy workplaces and activities. The Managing Director has accountability for the health and safety of the staff (workers) and those affected by their activities. The Managing Director contracts an external partner has a competent health and safety person.

 

Leaders have an appropriate knowledge of the legislative framework, best practice and the requirements of health and safety standards. The management team are responsible for the implementation of the occupational health and safety management system (OHSAS) and take full responsibility for its development and improvement.

Leaders are involved in the development of policies and processes, where required and are actively involved in ensuring they are implemented in the relevant parts of the organisation and are continuously reviewed and improved.

Leaders understand the links between the processes and their interaction. These allow us to deliver the plans for the business. We actively ensure they are fully implemented in a manner reflecting our values.

We ensure that adequate resources are available to ensure an effective OHSAS and communicate to interested parties the importance of our OHSAS.

 

               HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

K7 shall adopt a risk based, opportunity focussed, common sense and proportionate approach to the occupational health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and others affected by our operations.

 

We will provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work related injury and ill health and continually assess the risks in line with our organisational context.

 

This policy provides a framework for establishing our health, safety and wellbeing objectives that will include a commitment to provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work related injury and ill health. This policy and objectives will drive the continual improvement of our health, safety and wellbeing management system.

 

K7 will comply with all occupational health, safety and wellbeing legislative requirements in all regions covered by our operations. We will also comply with the respective judicial process in those areas. We shall retain certification to relevant and recognised health and safety standards, not limited to Safe Contractor and ISO45001.

 

K7 shall promote partnership working with its customers, service partners and other interested parties to promote a philosophy of improvement in occupational health, safety and wellbeing.

 

K7 shall promote a culture of leadership, collaboration, participation, co-operation, responsibility and awareness in health, safety and wellbeing. We shall empower our staff to act sensibly, responsibly and most importantly safely when carrying out their work and will involve them in the decision- making process.

 

K7 shall provide the necessary equipment, systems, processes, documentation, knowledge, training and awareness to our staff to enable staff to make sound, proportionate and justifiable decisions in matters relating to occupational health, safety and wellbeing.

 

K7 shall adopt an approach of elimination, substitution, process control and protection through appropriate safety equipment to all health, safety and wellbeing risks.

 

K7 shall audit review and monitor this policy to ensure that it remains relevant, appropriate to our activity and in context with our operations.

 

K7 shall communicate this policy to our staff, customers and any other relevant interested parties. It shall be publicly available, annually reviewed and signed off at the highest level as our commitment to health, safety and wellbeing of our staff

 

Our management team are results focussed and monitor the health and safety performance of the business through an internally balanced scorecard. Where objectives and targets are not being met we introduce appropriate actions to bring them back on line.

We have implemented processes  to ensure the consultation and participation of our staff in developing and improving our OHSAS. We shall provide training and awareness and timely access to relevant information, such as method statements, risk assessments and guidance documents.

We shall remove any barriers or obstacles to consultation and participation of staff. We shall involve staff when:

  • conducting risk assessments and creating method statements

  • during the investigation of accidents or near misses

  • when conducting internal audits

  • when planning training and awareness

  • when reviewing health and safety performance

  • when introducing new processes or technologies
