OPERATIONS

We have established, implemented, controlled and maintain the processes needed to meet OHSMS requirements, and to eliminate hazards and reduce risk as low as is reasonably practical. We shall review the consequences of any planned or unplanned changes to our processes or service delivery to ensure any adverse effects are controlled. Priority will be given to the following:

  • checking and raising the competence of our staff

  • maintenance and inspection programmes for our vehicles, sites and equipment

  • assignment instructions and other operational instruction

  • safe working and manufacturers instructions

  • physical controls, barriers, alarms, signs etc

  • processes and systems of work, health surveillance

Operational controls have been established for eliminated and hazards and reducing risk to an acceptable level. Method statements and risk assessments are carried out prior to any works being completed. Where appropriate generic risk assessments are supported by dynamic risk assessment, particularly where there has been a change made to the operation that might identify a new hazard, change and existing one and increase the risk to our staff or others.

We will also ensure that outsourced processes are controlled or influenced and that suppliers and sub-contractors work within our health and safety compliance framework.

We shall maintain documented information to the extent necessary to have confidence that the processes have been carried out as planned.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

We have established, implemented and maintain a process for the handling of major incidents or potential major incidents.  We have considered the following when creating this process which are:

  • the numbers and locations of staff

  • the availability of local emergency services

  • competence of staff and the needs of any vulnerable persons

As part of our response plan we shall also address the following:

  • planned actions are established to prevent or mitigate any one term impact

  • the roles and responsibilities to respond to the emergency incident itself

  • periodically test the planned actions

  • review and revise the process as a result of an emergency situation or the outputs from the tests

  • provide the necessary information, training and documentation to staff and other interested parties relating to emergency preparedness
